LAX for MAX
On August 11, 2017, weeks before his sixth birthday, Max Gottstein, cousin of BHS sophomore lacrosse player Ben Melgaard, died of treatment induced leukemia caused by the many different chemotherapy regimens he underwent to battle retinoblastoma, an eye cancer he developed at just eight months old.
Despite years of treatments, hospital stays, transfusions, and two bone marrow transplants, Max was a happy, imaginative, magical boy who delighted in life and in people. He charmed everyone he met, and inspired others with his ability to shine even on the darkest days.
We miss him everyday and Ben wanted to honor him by hosting the 1st annual "Lax for Max" charity lacrosse game.
Join us at Boonton High School on Saturday, April 21st at 11:30 am as Boonton High School Boys hosts Pequannock.
We will be selling food, t-shirts and accepting donations. All proceeds will go directly to Dr. Leahy's (Max's oncologist) retinoblastoma research fund. Thank you for all of your support.
